Ark:
Poetics of Design

Fall 2023

Exploring "poetics" from its Greek root "poiein" (to make), Poetics of Design was a class focused on crafting and understanding. We were given three prompts, each initially with only a one-week deadline: a thinking cap, talisman, and vestment, with an ark to hold them all. Each prompt came with its own readings and discussions, but essentially, I intuitively created what I gathered from these simple terms. The result was a highly individual set of artifacts for retrospection. For the final paper, I used my discoveries from this process to write a manifesto titled "Design as Unspoken Dialogue," outlining my poetics of design.
